How to use the Cryptocurrency Service

If you are not registered yet, create an account using this link to receive our Cashback every month.

Here you can find a Dashboard where the list of Cryptocurrencies available to buy and your wallet’s basic data are displayed (screen 1).

It is at the top of the screen near the Dashboard (screen 2). Here you can find the price charts (you can see a tendency for an hour, for a day, for a week and for a month) and the purchase form.

Select the currency you want to buy (for example, XRP) and the currency of your account (euro in this case). The amount of the deposit will be expressed as a percentage of your Skrill current deposit.

Imagine, you have € 15.68 on your account. You invest 75% of this amount – € 11.58. The Cryptocurrency price (calculated on the basis of the average for the largest exchanges) and the fee of the service are also listed here. Taking into account the fee, you will get € 11.76.

The summary (screen 3) contains all of your transaction data. In your case is XRP 55.756 for 100% of your wallet funds.

If everything goes well you will see a message about it on the screen (screen 4).

You will see the details about your first bought cryptocurrency in your portfolio. There will be a price movements chart of your entire portfolio (screen 5) and the information about each cryptocurrency separately (screen 6).

You can check the balance of your cryptocurrency account on the Skrill Dashboard (screen 7).

In order to automate your buying and selling, select the Automated Order tab (screen 8). Here you can:

– Create an alert: when the price of the selected Cryptocurrency reaches the quantity you specified, you will receive a notification to your e-mail.

– Create an Automated Order: when the price of the selected Cryptocurrency reaches the quantity you specified, the service will automatically buy/sell it.

Price Triggers for notifications or Automated Orders can be created for each Cryptocurrency separately (screen 9). This function is very convenient to use for speculation and for obtaining an additional profit due to a price increase. Also, the Service tracks the rates on its own.

Для этого зайдите в раздел “Отправить”, выберите способ “с баланса счета” и ранее купленную криптовалюту. Все нюансы отправки смотрите в нашей инструкции.

What do you need to know about the Skrill Cryptocurrency service?

Please note: British licensing institution, namely the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) does not currently regulate internal Cryptocurrency transactions because technically the whole process is provided not by Skrill, but by a third-party exchange platform. If you have a complaint about the Cryptocurrency Service work, you will not be able to send it to the FCA. All legal aspects are stated in the Terms of Use.

No, there is no separate wallet. Cryptocurrency is assigned to your account.

Skrill does not provide any advice on when it is profitable to exchange funds in your wallet. This decision can only be made by you. Skrill will not bear any responsibility if you bought a cryptocurrency, and then it fell in price and you lost some of your investments.

In Skrill, you can buy and sell cryptocurrency – thus it is convenient to gamble on the prices. You can send cryptocurrency to another Skrill user.

However, there are limitations compared to the classical cryptocurrency wallet:

– it is impossible to fund the Skrill Merchant deposit by Cryptocurrency;

– cannot be spent with a card;

– cannot be withdrawn out of Skrill.

But you can still sell the Cryptocurrency and do any of the above actions with the usual currency in the account.

Theoretically, Skrill could also put cryptocurrency limits for your account if it considers that you are at great risk in trading.

You can fund your account with Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash in Skrill, but that cannot be done through Cryptocurrency Service but through the BitPay exchange platform.  And bitcoins are immediately converted into your wallet currency.

Not regulated by FCA. There is still no special regulations for Cryptocurrency transactions in Europe. At the moment, customers are less protected than with electronic money transactions.

You assume the financial risk of losing your investment. Cryptocurrency trading involves an increased risk of loss. Ordinary currencies are supported by the economy of their country, goods at the market, gold and banks. Cryptocurrencies can significantly lose in price because they depend mainly on the demand and are almost never regulated.

Cryptocurrency has high volatility. The market is still new and unstable. Prices may fall and rise in a short time. They react significantly to any news and changes and that might surprise you a lot. The Cryptocurrency market is still very vulnerable to manipulations and fraudsters. For example, the price may fall due to software errors, legislative changes, competition with another cryptocurrency, violation of anonymity, theft or loss of money, hackers intervention.

The work of the Cryptocurrency Service is provided by a third party. Skrill does not name the company that handles Cryptocurrency Service transactions but warns that problems may occur not on their platform, but outside of it.

The Cryptocurrency legal or regulatory requirements are not fixed. For example, in Russia, there is no law that regulates the legal status of Cryptocurrency. Members of Parliament periodically come up with ideas to ban and impose penalties for their trafficking, although there is no such law either.
